Just read The Summer Isles, brilliant story with a touch of 1984 about it, also Isabel of the Fall was amazing, The Drake Equation and the Lennon story, sorry forgot the title, carry on the great work, you are still the first name I look for in any anthology.

I just read your interview with Amazon. I salute you for your attitude toward acknowledgments. I've read so many books whose authors' thank yous go on and on ad infinitum. I am ordering Song of Time for my Kindle 2 and looking forward to a good read.

Congratulations on Song of Time Winning the Arthur C. Clarke award. I have not read it yet, but I very much enjoyed reading the novel-length version of 'Summer Isles' and several stories in the collection 'Past Magic'. I have been meaning to read more of your books, so hearing of the award reminds me I need to order 'Song of Time' as well as some of your earlier novels and collections that I have not yet read.

When I was 16, I picked up The Light Ages at a local bookstore because, I am ashamed to say, the cover looked cool. That and the cover blurb compared it to Philip Pullman and China Mieville. Regardless of what drew me to it, The Light Ages became one of the defining novels of my youth. This past summer, 4 years later, while at a workshop for young sf/f/h writers, I stumbled across The House of Storms. And what a beautiful novel it is. It reminded me of what made me want to pick up a pen in the first place. Thank you for writing. Your stories, long and short, are inspiring.

"New Light on the Drake Equation" is stunning. Thank you.

The Light Ages ranks alongside Mieville's Iron Council, Swanwick's The Iron Dragon's Daughter and Keith Robert's Pavane as THE seminal work in steampunk. House of Storms is a lot more disjointed and ponderous but I can't recall a more atmospheric novel - it's the steampunk equivalent of The Return of the Native! Please keep venturing into novel length steampunk.
