The Reparateur of Strasbourg

Here's a sneak preview of the cover for my upcoming vampire novella, The Reparateur of Strasbourg, due out this autumn from PS Publishing. I'm really pleased with how the artwork has come out—as darkly glamorous as, I feel and hope, is the story which awaits the reader inside. The artist, Ben Baldwin, was very keen on my piece when he read it, and I think it shows... Click the picture for a larger version.

The Discovered Country

asimovs92013  There's a major new story from me in the September 2013 Asimov's Science Fiction. It continues my fascination with exploring lands beyond death and I'm rather proud of it. Look out for another story from me, called 'Entangled', which in some ways is a mirror image of 'The Discovered Country', in the same magazine in a couple of months.

E-books from Open Road

I'm delighted to announce that all of my novels are now available as e-book editions in a variety of reader formats from Open Road. It's taken a while to get here and I hope you'll agree that the cover images are quite handsome. My 'best of' story collection Snodgrass & Other Illusions is also available from the same publisher. If you follow this link (http://www.openroadmedia.com/ian-macleod) to my Open Road page you can select where you wish to order from--amazon, iTunes etc.--to obtain the correct file format for your e-reader.

Snodgrass and Other Illusions E-book Out Now

snodgrassAs seen on Sky Arts’ Playhouse Presents:

Imagine there’s no Lennon . . . In the reality-altering novella “Snodgrass,” John Lennon sidesteps his musical destiny and instead becomes a civil servant

After spending his adolescence like so many others had, playing in a band with friends, John Lennon knows it’s time to grow up. Skipping out on the Beatles before they would go on to become one of the greatest rock groups of the twentieth century, John moves to Birmingham. As he watches the exploits of friends Paul, Ringo, and George, John grows older and lives an ordinary life . . . and he is left wondering “what if?”

With “Snodgrass” as its anchor, this collection of eleven stories also includes “The Chop Girl,” inspired by the infamous Dresden bombing raids; “Past Magic,” a futuristic account of parents cloning their children who have passed away; “New Light on the Drake Equation,” inspired by a man’s journey as he searches for signs of extraterrestrial intelligence; and seven more tales that showcase MacLeod’s breadth as a writer.

You can visit the publisher's site HERE for links to sites where you can purchase 'Snodgrass and Other Illusions,' or purchase from amazon.co.uk or amazon.com.

Full contents are... Introduction/The Chop Girl/Past Magic/Hector Douglas Makes a Sale/Nevermore/Second Journey of the Magus/New Light on the Drake Equation/Snodgrass/The Master Miller's Tale/Isabel of the Fall/Tirkiluk//Grownups — each story with a brand new afterword

Lisa Moon and the Leonardo Timepiece

Lisa Moon coverI've been writing a young adult novel called Lisa Moon and the Leonardo Timepiece. As the cover and title might suggest, it combines touches of magic, fantasy and history with a deviously smiling heroine you might just recognise - and, I hope, a great deal of adventure and fun. This is a new departure for me, and I'm very keen to have the views of readers, young, old or in-between, as to what they think of it. If you enjoy it, or don't, feel free to comment! Here's a large extract, free to download... (to download, right click, select 'save target as' and choose a location, to open in your browser, left click the link)
