My short story Selkie, an alternate history take on the lead-up (or not) to World War One and war in general, with an added twist of Celtic folklore, is now available to be read online here. Great also to see (and contribute toward!) a thoughtful take on military SF…
Pleased to announce that my new short story The Chronologist has just gone live on Tor.com. It’s set in a town where the clocks actually control time rather than merely measuring its progress….
Happy to say that, after a long gestation, the new New Worlds collection is finally available for pre-order, and will be out in August. Honoured to be among contributors including Alan Moore, Michael Swanwick, Lavie Tidhar, Ian Watson, Paul Park, James Lovegrove, Gwyneth Jones and the great Michael Moorcock himself. The teenage me who loved this magazine would be extremely chuffed – and so am I!

This excellent new collection which commemorates the 100th anniversary of Karel Čapek coining the word “Robot” and is now available for pre-order includes my own story Sin Eater, which is set in the Vatican at the End of Days…
Proud to say I’m in this collection, along with some other great writers. My story is called Lamagica, and is a substantial one at 13,000 words. It’s set in Mexico of the alternate world of my novels The Light Ages and The House of Storms.
